My Story
I'm Jo, a late-diagnosed, non-binary (that's what the Mx. means), neurodivergent, Professional Declutterer and Organiser based in South London who started work at the Bank of England aged 16, then spent 10 years in investment banking. At 26, I travelled the world, fell in love with Latin America, and came back to study for a degree in Latin American Development.
Following my degree, I worked for the UK's Department for International Development for 13 years, responding to humanitarian emergencies worldwide, from the 2004 tsunami to earthquakes, typhoons, conflicts, and the Ebola crisis. This work earned me an OBE for global humanitarian emergency response and an Honorary Doctorate.
My autism gives me a direct, no-nonsense approach that my clients appreciate. The skills that made me successful in previous careers are autistic superpowers: methodical thinking, practical solutions, exceptional attention to detail, and strong visual/spatial awareness. Then my ADHD helps me understand the executive function challenges, overwhelm, and focus issues that hinder organisation.
As someone who experiences the world differently, I've developed innovative approaches to organising that work for both neurodivergent and neurotypical people alike.
Whether you're neurodivergent, neurotypical, LGBTQIA+, or simply want a personalised, judgement-free approach, you'll find an ally in me. Decluttering and organising sparks deep joy for me, which is why I created Mx. Neat and Tidy.
